Question: Only Idle's rough, runs great otherwise

Could it be as simple as the fuel filter? It did have a distinct Miss when i bought it, then the lucas tune up in a bottle, then the Techtron fuel cleaner, now she runs rough all the time idling instead of the Miss. Please help before the shop starts a $300 tune up? Can this be right?

you did not state when the last tune up was? you need to start some where and a good tune up is a good jumping off point. you should ask them to run a compression test while they are in there if the miles are over 100k. how many miles are on the car ? have them check for vacumm leaks and also the fuel pressure regulator-if this is bad it will put too much fuel in and cause rough running.

Someone told me that the spider injection system is very sensitive to chemical additives such as fuel system cleaners and dryers. They burn the injection system up. Adding more of these chemicals may be compounding your problem. You may need to replace the spider injector assembly but check with a professional first.

i would start with a fuel filter. i just repaired a 98 with spider injection. it started out with a clogged fuel filter which killed the fuel pump which i also replaced. if it is your fuel pressure regulator or the injector they are both under the intake and a big job to fix. start cheap and simple. fuel filter and a tune up.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
