Question: Tries to start but doesn't

I have a 2010 Sportage. Sometimes it won't start.
It turns over but doesn't start. Turn the key off and wait a few minutes and try again. Sometimes it starts and other times you need to do this three or four times. The dealer wants to remove the command start. Is that really necessary?

Mine did that and sometimes it would just stall while driving. At 97,000 miles I had the timing belt replaced (which was overdo) and the crank sensor replaced. Mechanic showed me the sensor, said he couldn't believe it ran at all.
